The Long Table returns to Main Street
Remember When - 50s/60s Night Club Theme
On September 8 Main Street in Jasper will be transformed into an elegant night club of the 50s/60s with dining and dancing on Main. This is the sixth anniversary of The Long Table for the benefit of Prevent Child Abuse Pickens.
Long Table organizers shift venues and themes every year but regularly return to Main Street. “It’s where it all started, ‘The Long Table on Main’ and our patrons really appreciate being here,” stated Dennis Santucci, Board President. “There’s definitely a cache to the location and it shows that the town officials, the Town of Jasper and Pickens County support the cause”, he continued.
This year’s theme is Remember When and will be a nostalgic journey back to the ‘50s and ’60. Imagine a swanky night club back then (without the cigarette smoke). Sinatra and the Rat Pack may be performing or maybe those new upstarts like Elvis, The Temptations, The Platters or The Drifters.
Entertainment will be provided by the amazing vocal stylings of The Sock Hops, from Marietta, GA, whose catalog of songs blankets every one of these performers.
Long Table ‘black and white attire’ is the tradition but patrons who wish are encouraged to dress as they did in the ‘50s and ‘60s.
Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30 pm. A multi-course dinner will follow at 7:30 o’clock, presented by 61 Main, featuring short rib pot roast, Georgia mountain trout in parchment with local fruit salsa.
